Hey, is there by any chance on a native Linux version of the game, knowing there is a Mac port? Linux gaming is evolving faster than anyone has expected as of late, to the point Linux is set to outdo macOS in gaming market share. I am aware that Proton exists, though a native Linux port would be very beneficial for the Steam Deck in terms of battery life.
It's fully understandable if this isn't in scope though. Some support for Proton would be good if you opt to just keep the Windows build.
If anything, I am totally willing to help test such native builds, or even test the Windows build under Proton.
I'm glad your "church is closed, dude" video got randomly recommended to me. Game looks awesome. Pre-Ordered and can't wait to play it!
I hope everyone and their loved ones have a fun, happy, healthy, and safe holiday season, remainder of 2023, and 2024! :)
P.S. I see people making requests about their custom gravestones and wanted posters, is that ok to make a request? Also, would it be ok to make a request about a custom type of crime committed (for the wanted poster)? If not, NBD! :)
UPDATE: I realized the character has a modern era rifle in his hand, making this feel out of time sync for your game. If this is a problem let me know, and I will create a different drawing that fits the Wild Western theme. This drawing is based in the Middle East, inspired by the Soviet-Afghan War and the War on Terror.
We have a sample up of how the posters look in the latest dev log. Thanks for your input, however the portrait image is generated in code by the game, in keeping with the game's style.
I never thought that a video labeled "The church is closed, dude." would lead me to finding a new game to look forward to. The style, the music (It's been stuck in my head for a while now) and the interaction in that video convinced me already!
The planned mission editor is a feature I'd definetly like to play around with. I'm kind of hoping that people will be able to share models for said editor to expand the possible scenarios that could be created.
Aside from that, good work so far! Take as much time as you need.
Hi presauced, thanks for your comment. The c64 could use mixed resolution modes at the same time, the weapons and text are in high-res mode, while the realtime 3D is in multi-color mode.
i remember accidentally finding this in Youtube as a algorithm awhile ago and since i have enough money, I decided to back this game (aka name in credits lol) can't wait tho
Any idea when we might see a release? This is so cool, I'm considering pre-ordering which is something I've never done before. If you guys still have lots of dev time left, I would love to support the team with a preorder.
Hey I just saw a video about the game and wanted to give a cool historic fact single action revolvers. Cowboys used to only load 5 bullets because in single action revolvers you would want the hammer to rest in an empty chamber due to the firing pin being attached directly to the hammer and if there was a good hit on the gun it would cause the firing pin to hit the primer of the bullet and make the gun go off. In new single action guns there are safety systems set up so that it wouldn't go off easily.
That's a great bit of historical info, thanks! The gun in the more recent videos is based on a Colt 1851 navy revolver. We'll add some more historical guns in future updates. It's fun to base in-game items off the rich history the wild west provides.
Will it be possible to download the game from steam if i preorder it here? I want to get the gravestone thing but i dont really want to buy the game here now and on steam when it releases.
Folks, looks ready really good, harks back to the 3d vector graphics even on the Amiga, like Hunter or Robocop 3, the interactive bit and sand box elements look amazing, keep up the great development work, looking forward to release, and maybe even add on mission packs!? Anthony
Man, this is some serious flash backs to the commodore. Ignoring the first person shooter part and the voices, because yeah its creative liberties with no other real work around, The sound and the look exactly what I'd expect from that era.
This is awesome, I can't preorder due to having to save money wisely, but I'm most certainly keeping a eye one this and grabbing when I have the chance. I always wondered what a FPS in a commodore would look like, and well, I'm getting my answer.

Do you have an eta for the folks who are impatiently waiting?
Just curious :)
I think propppper western cowboy music would fit the vibe of the game much better vs this nasty nervous chiptune tootling.
Any word on the beta?
thanks for checking in, we're working on the game, once it is stable, we'll release an early access version.
Do you have any updates about your progress ? :)
I Love your project, so please take the time you need to shape it according to your ideas ;)
thanks for checking in, we just did an update on terrain, scroll down for explosions https://dadako.itch.io/bad-pixels/devlog/767077/terrain
Nice, can't wait for snakes in my boots
Will this be available on itch.io?
hi! Yep! Windows and mac
This looks sick as hell, i love that the sprites have a doom like style with the rotation and how its a C64 3D thing aaaagaghhhh <333333333
Thanks! It’s a great mix for sure

The game is developed in Unity, so maybe Linux will be fine. Something to look into after the Beta, thanks for the comment!
This looks awesome!
This looks rad as hell. Preordered!

Hi thanks for your input, the wanted posters feature Name and Wanted reason.
Lol that video is also how I showed up here
I want this for my wanted poster.

Ah. I see... That is fine as well I suppose.

Can you make my wanted poster similar to this?
Hi Zimph, the eyepatch is a nice touch! Images in the wanted poster are generated by the game, only the name and wanted reason are custom.
Ah okay. I figured it'd be a neat idea. Thanks for the reply!
Super excited to see all the custom supporter's wanted posters and gravestones in the game. Im glad i was able to get a poster too!!
Cool. But the gun sprite not aligning with the game's virtual resolution is not very good.
Hi presauced, thanks for your comment. The c64 could use mixed resolution modes at the same time, the weapons and text are in high-res mode, while the realtime 3D is in multi-color mode.
the gun is closer to you so it looks more detailed. same as how eyes work
Game looks amazing. Will there be support for 4:3 aspect ratio resolutions? I wish to play on an actual CRT without borders.
i remember accidentally finding this in Youtube as a algorithm awhile ago and since i have enough money, I decided to back this game (aka name in credits lol) can't wait tho
Hey! I purchased the "custom gravestone" package about a week ago. This is starting to look real good and am stoked to try it!
Would you ever consider allowing people to test out closed betas?
Hi, thanks! The Beta will be available to all pre-order supporters later next year.
Glad to hear! Totally stoked
PLS RELASE THE SONG FROM THIS VIDEO ITS SO GOOD
Hi, the music from the videos is available here: https://soundcloud.com/matthewivic/sets/bad-pixels

Thanks!

Pre-ordered today. Very excited for this project!!!
Thanks!
What engine do you use?
Hi, we have a devlog that details all the tools used here: https://dadako.itch.io/bad-pixels/devlog/478747/development-tools
Excited for this. Looks fun!
having a mission editor is a good idea as it keeps the game alive after 100% completion
this game looks amazing! i immediatly pre-ordered, this is too cool to not support and hey cool custom gravestone too!
god dayum

It would be really awesome to see some more historic guns and historical ideas in this game. Just remember that what comes first is fun! :)
Hey man this game looks awesome! Came from 'The church is closed dude' video and I really like the overall feel.
Thanks!
Desperate to know how the graphical style is done :O
Hi, we made a blog post about the tools used https://dadako.itch.io/bad-pixels/devlog/478747/development-tools
Just saw the "church is closed, dude" video
i love this game so much lol
Thanks! I also like half life 2.
Will it be possible to download the game from steam if i preorder it here? I want to get the gravestone thing but i dont really want to buy the game here now and on steam when it releases.
Hi, we've updated the rewards to include a Steam key.
Great! I will be preordering soon then!
demo?

Thanks! Hunter & Robocop 3 are big influences, like many Amiga 3D games.
Man, this is some serious flash backs to the commodore. Ignoring the first person shooter part and the voices, because yeah its creative liberties with no other real work around, The sound and the look exactly what I'd expect from that era.

Coolest thing I've seen in a while.
