The roadmap

I can finally says this, we are close to releasing the first public beta!

Over the project's development, I've experimented with many game mechanics, seeing what works and what doesn't. Some things took a long time to code or design, yet ultimately they will not be in the early versions of the game. Let's start out with what won't be in the game for now:

  • deformable terrain
  • horse travel
  • generated terrain
  • dialogue system
  • speech
  • time travel
  • bleeding
  • CRT monitor effect (it will be back later)
  • other stuff that looked nice from AAA games and is ultimately out of reach for a 1 person team :D

Now, let's talk about what is in the game!

  • posse system
  • levels
  • gangs
  • wanted system
  • shootouts
  • permanent upgrades
  • creatures
  • hideouts
  • possession

Most (most) of the coding is out of the way now. Shaders have been tested on intel & silicon, controllers are supported. The game will run without crashing (no promises!) and is stable. The majority of the work left to be done is art. Once enough arts are in the game, I'll release the playable beta. Things are going well so I expect that to be in a couple of months from now, I'll most certainly be making some videos and blasting them here then.

I've set up a public roadmap, which details these art assets. Also feel free to talk to us on Discord

Credits are also in the game but I still have some blanks, so please check your cowboy name and I'll check again in July for integration into the first beta release of the game.

Awesome! I love seeing updates on this project because the cool old western style makes me feel so immersed in the retro vibe! Thanks for the update!
